“What is district heating?" That's the most common question I get when I share news about my new job. District heating isn't a familiar term in everyday life; you won't come across it by scrolling through Instagram or listening to podcasts. However, now is the time for district heating to gain more attention in the general public's life.

April marks my second month in both this industry and at Ener-Vate. This is my first job after graduating with my master's degree so life has entered a brand new chapter for me to explore, especially in a foreign country. I was born and raised in Taiwan, a beautiful subtropical island nestled in the heart of Asia. For most of the year in Taiwan, we don’t really need heating in our daily lives so I never thought I would step into the heating industry!

Working as a Project & Sales Coordinator, I ensure that each project is completed on time and everything is on track. This role also allows me to engage with projects from the very beginning, starting with engaging potential clients to providing proposals. I find it fascinating to witness how a project evolves from scratch to fruition.

I feel fortunate and appreciated to join this friendly team (I have to mention, they even brought me a pack of Staffordshire oatcakes; that's a true welcome, isn't it?) where everyone is working diligently to create a better and more sustainable world for future generations. I felt warm and welcomed when I first stepped into this unknown area. There is so much more for me to learn and absorb so that I can be well-equipped to keep up with all of my knowledgeable colleagues and contribute to the promotion of district heating. I still don’t know what the future holds, but I am excited to explore what awaits me ahead—challenges to overcome, things to learn, and opportunities to grow.
